Just a reminder to be wary when it comes to grammar checkers! English is dark and full of errors. The quoted examples were very obviously wrong, but the rest may have fooled people into accepting them, and introduced over 30 cases of questionable punctuation into just two chapters, which is considered far from publishable quality. One suggestion wanted me to change a correctly used emdash into a hyphen. They were all incorrect and would have slightly altered the flow or meaning of each sentence. Anyone else been burned by software when writing? Has anyone had good experiences with Grammarly?Įdit to add: most of the remaining suggestions were commas to add or remove.

It also gives you customized checks for different document types, a plagiarism filter and a function to help expand vocabulary. It suggests spelling, grammar and style changes in real time. Grammarly is an easy to use grammar and spelling assistant. It came up with 32 errors, so I scanned through them. Grammarly is a popular online writing app that is free to Southwest students and faculty. (Unpaid Grammarly can't handle much more than that.) First time trying it. Long day! Out of curiosity, I ran about 60,000 characters through Grammarly to see if I was having a really bad day and had missed a bunch. On a second pass, I realised I hadn't caught something easy.
